Getting around Bristol

Bristol is one of the best cities in the UK for cycling, with plenty of safe cycle routes making it easy to get from campus to the city and back. The city also has an extensive bus network, with frequent routes like the M1, M3 and M4 metrobus linking universities, student areas and the city centre. For trips home or further afield, Temple Meads station offers quick connections to other major cities.

Clifton

Just a mile from the University of Bristol and our St Mary’s property, Clifton is one of Bristol’s most beautiful areas, with elegant Georgian architecture, independent boutiques and cosy cafés just minutes from the city centre.

Redland

Less than a mile from the University of Bristol and William & Matthew House, Redland is a popular neighbourhood with an active student community. It’s also home to the stunning 18th-century Georgian Redland Church.

City Centre

A blend of modern city life and historic architecture, Bristol city centre is less than a mile from most of our properties and the University of Bristol. It’s also just a short bus ride to UWE Bristol, making it a convenient base for students at either university.

University of Bristol

Ranked in the top 20 universities in the UK, the University of Bristol has over 25,000 students, 27% are international. The main Clifton campus is woven into the city itself, with eight libraries, over 3,400 study spaces and a large sports centre. It’s well connected by public transport and close to popular student neighbourhoods like Redland and Cotham.

University of the West of England

With a student population of over 30,000, UWE Bristol is one of the larger universities in the UK. The main Frenchay Campus is a short bus ride from the city centre and features extensive green spaces and a large Student Union. The smaller Glenside campus, around three miles northwest of the city, focuses on health, nursing and midwifery.
