What does it mean for my booking? 

If you’re currently living with us during the 2025/26 academic year, your booking will stay exactly as it is. By 31st May 2026, we’ll send you updated documents to make sure everything aligns with the new legislation, along with a government information guide explaining the changes in more detail. 

If you’ve booked a summer stay with Hello Student, there’s nothing you need to do. Summer stay agreements aren’t affected by the Renters’ Rights Act. 

If you’ve booked with us for the 2026/27 academic year, your booking will fall under a type of agreement called a Common Law Tenancy, which is exempt from the Renters’ Rights Act. Once the government releases its official information sheet, we’ll share this with all students moving in for the 2026/27 academic year, alongside any relevant documents, by 31st May 2026.
