There’s a lot to weigh up when deciding where to live during your time at University. Whilst some students continue to live at home during their studies, most opt to live either in University halls, Private Student Accommodation, or House Shares. Each route offers a different student living experience so it’s a good idea to take your time and consider what is important to you.
University Halls are usually offered to first year undergraduate students and are mostly flat shares of between 4 and 20 people. For this reason, along with the shared bathroom facilities and general spec of the rooms and shared spaces, University Halls are often seen as the cheaper option.
When it comes to choosing whether to stay in a House Share or Dedicated Student Accommodation, we believe the benefits of living with Hello Student are far greater than sharing a private rented house or flat. To help you understand these benefits, we’ve put them in a handy guide below.
As we all know, energy bills have increased rapidly. Most house shares require students to organise and pay for their own energy bills. The average energy costs per room in private student housing has increased by £20pw. However, when staying with us, all your bills are covered in your rent and won't change during your stay. You’ll be able to focus less on fluctuating bills, and more on your studies.
House shares can often be situated a few miles from your Uni campus. Our student homes are situated perfectly for you to make the most of your time at Uni. You'll be moments from campus, bars, restaurants and everything else that your city has to offer.
Our students mental health and wellbeing is our top priority. We were recently awarded the Best Student Wellbeing award at the Global Student Living Awards, thanks to student feedback. We're partnered with Health Assured to deliver a 24 hour confidential service to support you through any of life’s issues or problems. All Hello Student residents have free access to the helpline and app to discuss any issues or problems you may be facing. Help is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Your safety is our top priority. Our on-site management team, electronic door entry systems, intercoms and CCTV ensure that you feel relaxed in the safest possible environment 24/7.
We believe a strong student community is key to helping you thrive at University. It's hard to feel part of something bigger when you're living in a house share with 2 or 3 people. Our buildings provide the perfect balance between socialising and studying. There is a real strong sense of community amongst our residents which creates the perfect environment for friendships to blossom and for you to thrive during your studies.
Our facilities really set us apart from house shares. There's no arguing over table space here. Most of our homes have onsite gyms, cinemas, private dining rooms and private work & study spaces, so you don't ever need to worry about finding somewhere to focus or unwind.
